It is the end of October and nearly November! My garden is gone and I have decided to not make a fall garden this year. The soil needs a lot of enrichment! We moved into this house in 2012 and I have been composting our kitchen scraps. The bottom of that compost pile is probably "pure gold" for our raised beds! Small things like kitchen scraps in the compost pile can make our Spring and Summer harvest explode! But first....we have to do the work involved to meet that goal. Small logistics like enriching the soil provide the foundation for success.
This same concept works for making the holidays a festive environment. One of the most important components is tradition. Every family has traditions for their holiday celebrations. Another component is food. My husband's mother always has Bisquick sausage balls. In fact the sausage balls have to be put in the crock pot and desiccated. It is a family joke. She is now suffering from dementia and required assistance last year. I got in trouble because I made them too big! There is even a rule about how big the sausage balls have to be! Oh well, I know how to do it this year! Smell of good food and spices add a background layer of yumminess and a feeling of comfort!

They also are great gifts for the office especially when purchasing token gifts for your colleagues. They are unique and handmade. They will appreciate the thoughts!
